Right on the western edge of Loch Lomond, the largest loch in Scotland, Cameron House enjoys a privileged locale with sweeping views of the bonny, bonny banks, the loch itself and Ben Lomond rising up in the distance on the far shore.
A Fully-Fledged International Resort
After a multi-million pound refurbishment Cameron House is a fully-fledged international class resort. It has it all – luxurious rooms, its own boating marina, a championship golf course, a first rate spa and one of Scotland’s most famous chefs overseeing one of its restaurants.
There are now 135 rooms, including 23 suites. Each is awash with all the luxury trimmings including neat extras like designer toiletries, an Ipod dock and Egyptian cotton bedding. For a real treat book a loch view room or even one of the suites that have their own balconies overlooking the bonny banks.
Michelin Star Dining
There are numerous dining choices at Cameron House these days. Martin Wishart at Loch Lomond sees the Edinburgh uber chef bring his renowned Michelin starred culinary skills to Cameron House. The Cameron Grill conjures up stunning steaks, while down by the loch The Boat House has a New England vibe and lovely seafood. Those in the mood for a burger can enjoy one down at the Claret Jug at the resort’s golf course.
You Could Stay for a week and Still Not Do Everything on Offer
You could stay here for a week and still not do everything they offer. Their Carrick golf course is an 18-hole championship course with great views of the loch and is a real test. It is becoming more and more famous so make sure to grab a round while you can still get on.
The Carrick Spa is also world class with myriad treatments (the hot stone therapy is excellent) and the added extra of an outdoor infinity pool, where you can watch the sun slip down over Loch Lomond. In the main hotel there is a fun pool complex with a flume that suits families – our young children loved it. Other active activities on offer include clay pigeon shooting, quad biking and mountain biking.
Water Bus to Loch Lomond Shores
A water bus service putters across the loch from Cameron House to Loch Lomond Shores. Here a collage of shops await as well as a choice of bars and restaurants. In summer you can also take out a kayak or boat while year round Loch Lomond Sealife Aquarium is the place to pop in and entertain kids and big kids alike with otters, turtles and even sharks all residents.
The Celtic Warrior Fairly Zips Across Loch Lomond
There is now also a slick private launch available for boat trips and private hire at Cameron House. The Celtic Warrior fairly zips across the loch and if you are lucky they may even let you get a shot at the helm. The really flash can book a trip from right outside the hotel on a sea plane with Loch Lomond Seaplanes.
